CHARLESTON -- Galen Ferrell, 83, of Charleston died Friday, June 7, 1996, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born Dec. 22, 1912, at Dogwood, son of E. Earl and Mary Velda Alley Ferrell. He and Josephine House were married Sept. 1, 1940.
Ferrell lived most of his life in Charleston and was employed at Ward's Supermarket. In 1950, he and his brothers opened the Ferrell Brother's Market, which he operated until retiring in 1977.
He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Charleston and a former member and past president of the Rotary and Kiwanis clubs.
Survivors include his wife; a son, David Ferrell of San Antonio; a daughter, Joyce Clemons of Sikeston; four brothers, Earl Ferrell of Sikeston, Bartley Ferrell of Benton, Tom Ferrell of East Prairie and Paul David Ferrell of Wahpeton, N.D.; a sister, Jeanne Elliott of Louisville, Ky.; four grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Assembly of God Church. The Revs. Gerald Penn and Larry Davis will officiate. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
