William "Gabby" Klein, 69, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at the Missouri Veterans Home.

He was born on Oct. 1, 1931, at Columbia, Ill., son of Theodore and Virginia Mueller Klein.

He and Dorothy M. Mosbacher were married May 7, 1955, at Columbia.

He was a graduate of Columbia High School. He formerly owned Dairy Bar in Columbia. He formerly was a member and officer of Columbia Volunteer Fire Department. He was a truck driver for Columbia Quarry before driving for Delta Asphalt and D.L. Harrison Co. for 35 years.

He served in the Army from 1952 to 1954.

He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ and the American Legion Post No. 581 in Columbia, and Teamster Local 574 and Elks Lodge No. 639 in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include his wife of Cape Girardeau; and a brother, Robert A. Klein of Branson, Mo.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. today and at Lawlor-Mueller Funeral Home in Columbia on Tuesday from 10-11 a.m.

Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lawlor-Mueller Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Caughlan officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery in Columbia.
