G. Carl Schowengerdt, 91, of Columbia, former professor of agriculture at Southeast Missouri State University, died Sunday, May 10, 1992, in Rolla.
He was born Jan. 14, 1901, at Independence, son of Louis B. and Maria Carl Schowengerdt. He and Berence Coughlin were married Aug. 5, 1925. She died in 1980.
Schowengerdt received a doctorate degree in horticulture from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He taught agriculture at the university here from 1939 until retiring in 1971.
Survivors include a son, George Schowengerdt of Rolla; a sister, Lillian Williams of Sandy, Utah; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia. The Rev. Bruce Jeffries will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
