Freda Hunze, 86, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, at her home.

She was born Dec. 13, 1923, in Lutesville, Mo., to George and Della McCormick Sample. She and Albert Kenneth "Pig" Hunze were married July 12, 1940, at Sikeston, Mo. He died Aug. 15, 1988.

Mrs. Hunze worked in sales at Woolworth Co. and was an interior designer with Rust & Martin. She managed apartment properties for several years in Cape Girardeau. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Luci Hunze of Cape Girardeau; six brothers, Larry (Anetha) Sample of Jackson, Gary (Cathy) Sample of Louisville, Ky., Lester (Meg) Sample, Tony (Brenda) Sample, John (Tomi) Sample, all of Fruitland; Ken (Barbara) Sample of Memphis, Tenn.; a sister, Evelyn (Jerome) Welter of Cape Girardeau; two sisters-in-law, Francis Hodges and Alma Hunze of Cape Girardeau; many nieces and nephews; and a special pet, Molly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and three sisters.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Donny Ford and Shawn Wasson officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to Bethany Baptist Church, Humane Society of Southeast Missouri or Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary.
