Freda Hogan, 78, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, July 28, 2018, at home, surrounded by her family.
She was born May 9, 1940, in Salisbury, Missouri, the daughter of Gerald and Mallie Shoemaker Leonard.
Freda enjoyed following her granddaughter�s volleyball career and loved the outdoors, which included gardening and mowing. She worked in food service on the river, Missouri Veterans Home and Chateau Girardeau.
Freda is survived by her son, Timothy R. Hogan of Cape Girardeau; daughter, Donna J. (Kevin) Gross of Jackson; granddaughter, Kathryn M. Hogan of Florida; sisters, Mary Starr of Branson, Missouri, and Karen (Jack) Matthena of Cape Girardeau; sister-in-law, Barbara Leonard of Arkansas: and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gerald Leonard; brother-in-law, Joe Starr; and the father of her children, Richard W. Hogan.
Private graveside services will be held at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary or Humane Society of Southeast Missouri, and will be accepted at the funeral home.
