Fred William Kurre Jr., 78, a native of Cape Girardeau, died Friday, March 15, 1996, at Morton Plant Mease Healthcare Center in Clearwater, Fla. Fred William Kurre Jr., 78, a native of Cape Girardeau, died Friday, March 15, 1996, at Morton Plant Mease Healthcare Center in Clearwater, Fla.

He was born Feb. 20, 1918, at Cape Girardeau, son of Fred and Flora Thomas Kurre.

He married Marge Trickey Aug. 14, 1943, at Cape Girardeau. She survives.

He was a building contractor for 22 years, retiring in 1974. He was a member of Cape Girardeau Country Club. He was a graduate of Washington University. He served in the Army during World War II.

He is survived by a son, Bill Kurre of San Diego, Fla..

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Service will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Ford & Sons Sprigg Street Chapel, with the Rev. James Caughlin officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday.
