Fred Perry Shirrell, 79, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999, at Missouri Veterans Home.
He was born April 7, 1919, at Zalma, son of Perry and Martha Ann "Ada" Kennedy Shirrell. He and Alma Cloninger were married Nov. 25, 1939, at Marble Hill.
Shirrell worked at Union Electric 41 years. He was a member of First Church of God, life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, and past member of Eagles Aerie 3775.
He served in the U.S. Marines during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Marvin Shirrell of Cape Girardeau, David Shirrell of Jackson; two daughters, Betty Pender of Clifton, Ill., Sondra Crenshaw of Jackson; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a great-grandchild.
Friends may call at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel after 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the chapel, with the Rev. Roger Christiansen officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
