SIKESTON -- Funeral service for Fred Edward Rooker of Sikeston will be held at 2 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. Johnny Hester will officiate, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Friends may call at the chapel from 11 a.m. to service time.

Rooker, 90, died Sunday, Oct. 6, 1996, at Sikeston Convalescent Center.

He was born Jan. 28, 1906, in Delaplaine, Ark., son of Will and Mildred Blair Rooker. He and Margrett Lenderman were married Dec. 20, 1924, in Delaplaine. She died Feb. 12, 1987.

Rooker moved to Sikeston in 1972 from Flint, Mich. He worked for the Buick Division of General Motors, retiring in 1972.

Survivors include three sons, Ed Rooker of Dexter, Gene Rooker of Rector, Ark., Bill Rooker of Marmaduke, Ark.; a daughter, Loretta Buddu of Vanita, Calif.; a sister, Clara Jett of Mountain Home, Ark.; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, a brother, a sister, and a grandchild.
