Fred Warren Robertson, 74, of Cape Girardeau passed away Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010, at Saint Francis Medical Center, following a brief illness.

He was born Sept. 3, 1936, in Coffeyville, Kan., son of Fred and Aileen Engel Robertson. He and Coralie Harlow were married March 10, 1956.

Warren was a 1954 graduate of Field Kindley High School in Coffeyville and attended Baker University in Kansas. Prior to his retirement in 2004, he worked in sales and maintenance. He was a member of Maple United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau.

He was a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and loved visiting the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Loving survivors include his wife of 54 years; four children, Sheryl (Bill) Sloop of Brandon, Miss., Kim (Glyn) Ferrell and John David (Brenda) Robertson of Benton, Mo., Marianne (Michael) Byers of Paducah, Ky.; six grandchildren, Karissa Ferrell, Steven Sloop, Kyle Warren Ferrell, Scott Sloop, Daniel Ferrell and Kathryn Byers. He was expecting his first great-grandson in November.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jane Johnston.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Dennis Lowe officiating. Interment will follow the service.

The family suggests that memorials be made to the church or charity of your choice.
