CAIRO, Ill. -- Fred Ent Lehning, 89, of Cairo died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born June 23, 1922, in Cairo, son of Fred P. and Mildred Ent Lehning.
Lehning was a registered pharmacist and owner of Lehning's Pharmacy in Cairo before his retirement.
He received a doctorate of pharmacy degree from the University of Illinois.
Lt. J.G. Lehning was the skipper of his LSC boat in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a ham radio operator and member of Cairo Elks Lodge 651. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and also attended Mighty Rivers Regional Worship Center in Cairo.
Fred Ent is survived by a son, Kyle Lehning of Nashville, Tenn.; four grandsons, Jason, Eric and Jordan Lehning, all of Nashville, Ryan Lehning of Washington, D.C.; and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera, in 2005.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Wiley Godfrey and Dr. Larry L. Potts officiating. Interment will be in Spencer Heights Cemetery in Mounds, Ill.
