MARBLE HILL -- Fred T. Cotner, 78, of Marble Hill died Monday, March 13, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born March 11, 1922, near Glen Allen, son of Albert and Iris Buckingham Cotner. He and Minnie C. Hedger were married July 10, 1955. She died Nov. 21, 1989.
Cotner retired as a welder with Erlbacher Materials Co. in Cape Girardeau. He was a member of First Church of God in Cape Girardeau, and attended Point Pleasant General Baptist Church near Marble Hill. He was also a member of VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include four sons, Ricky and Tracy Cotner of Cape Girardeau, Mickey Cotner of California, Kevin Cotner of Marble Hill; two daughters, Vicki Woody of Port Lavaca, Texas, Beckey Hays of Marble Hill; a sister, Mary Mills of Fruitland; 18 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Bobby Robbins and Fred Ritter officiating. Burial will be in McGee Chapel Cemetery near Glen Allen, with military rites by VFW Post 5900.
