Fred M. Baker Sr., 82, of Cape Girardeau passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 19, 1934, in Booths Point, Tennessee, to the late Benjamin and Golden Baker.
Fred pastored and evangelized for over 55 years. He was a very accomplished musician and could play any stringed instrument. In Salem, Oregon, he hosted the Grand Ole' Jubilee, which was a gospel music show. In Corvallis, Oregon, he managed the Memorial Garden.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Nellie Bennett Baker of Cape Girardeau; two sons; five daughters; a sister; 21 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and seven sisters.
Visitation will be at noon Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at New Lorimier Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given the Southeast Missouri State University Music Academy.
