POPLAR BLUFF -- Frank Wilson, 91, of Poplar Bluff, died Monday, June 24, 1996, at Westwood Hills Health Center.
He was born April 15, 1905, in Bertrand to Mary Jane Golightly and Hugh Wilson. He and Geraldine Snipes were married in 1929 at Charleston.
Wilson was a 47-year employee of the Missouri Pacific Railroad. He was a conductor on a passenger troop train during World War II. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Galilee class and served as president of the Methodist Men's Club.
He also devoted much of his time to working with the church's roses and Wednesday night dinners. In 1978 the Poplar Bluff Council of Federated Garden Clubs of Missouri presented him with a citation of commemoration in honor of his service toward community betterment. He was a member of the NARRE.
Survivors include his wife; two children, Mary Irma Worley of Nashville, Tenn., and Patricia Wilson of Newberry, S.C.; six grandchildren; eight grandchildren; one nephew, Jake Skyles of Poplar Bluff; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by one son.
Friends may call at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Kurt Schuermann officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
