Frank Leonard La Fentres, 77, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, April 28, 2017, at Southeast Hospital.
He was born Nov. 6, 1939, in Sikeston, Missouri, to Jess and Mary Berneda Chaney La Fentres. He graduated from Cape Girardeau Central High School in 1958.
He and Carolyn R. Faust were married Jan. 15, 1970, at Grace United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau.
Frank was a locomotive engineer for Union Pacific Railroad for 34 years, retiring in 2000.
He was a member of Unity Baptist Church in Wolf Lake, Illinois, and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. He was a avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Carolyn La Fentres of Cape Girardeau; daughter, Victoria J. (Billy) Joy of Lebanon, Missouri; three sons, Jess C. (Jane) La Fentres of St. Louis and James L. La Fentres and Justin W. La Fentres, both of Cape Girardeau; sister, Sandra D. (Larry) Huey of Scott City; brother, L. Clifton (Jo Ann) La Fentres of Perryville, Missouri; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mike Woelk officiating.
Entombment will follow at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Memorial contributions may be given to American Heart Association or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
