TUCSON, Ariz. — Frank Wilburn Hall II passed away Friday, April 14, 2023, in Tucson.

He was born Aug. 9, 1936, in Cape Girardeau to Dr. Frank Wilburn and Violet Martha Knospe Hall.

After graduating from Cape Girardeau Central High School, he attended college for two years and then joined the U.S. Army. He was assigned to Finance School in Indianapolis; served in Korea while attached to the 30th Finance Distribution Section at Fort Sill, Oklahoma; and served in Germany while attached to the 5th Finance Distribution Section.

After leaving the Army, he and his wife, Ethel, settled in St. Louis, where they lived until relocating to Tucson in 2016.

Frank loved race cars, fighter jets and road trips. He was a starter and corner marshal for Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), served as the regional executive for the St. Louis Region SCCA and won several of the region's awards. He attended more than 30 Indianapolis 500s, NASCAR races in five cities and the 2005 F1 U.S. Grand Prix. He attended air shows whenever he could, and especially enjoyed the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds. Of course, he was always ready for a road trip, whether it was crisscrossing the country or exploring local back roads.

Frank also loved diners, country music, crossword puzzles and telling anyone who would listen how proud he was of his grandsons.
