SIKESTON -- Funeral service for Frank Altom of Sikeston will be held at 10 a.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home. The Rev. Dolan Rogers will officiate, with burial in Sikeston City Cemetery.

Altom, 80, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 19, 1917, in Sikeston, son of Jesse Franklin and Eva Nolen Altom. He and Glenda Clippard were married Sept. 24, 1937, at Jackson. She died Feb. 3, 1994.

Altom was a self-employed farmer. In 1947 he won the Plant to Prosper Award for Missouri, Tennessee, Arkansas and Mississippi. He was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Wallis Altom of Sikeston; three sisters, LaVeda Marshall and Jean Harrington of Springfield, Shirley McClellan of Sikeston; and five grandchildren.
