Francis Lee "Duke" Taylor, 72, of Glasgow, Mo., died Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, at Cooper County Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 24, 1930, at Gilliam, Mo., son of Elmer Ray and Lucy I. Taylor. He and Betty Elizabeth Strum were married Oct. 28, 1966.

Taylor was currently water plant operator for the city of Glasgow. He had also worked in agriculture and for a time was owner and operator of State Beauty Supply in Cape Girardeau. He was a member of Glasgow American Legion Post 211.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Glasgow High School.

Survivors include a daughter, Amy Kirchdoerfer of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Eugene Taylor of Glasgow; three sisters, Nettie Cherrington and Virginia Thurman of Fayette, Mo., Doris Ancell of Tucson, Ariz.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a stepson.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Glasgow, with the Rev. Lewis Odneal officiating. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery near Saline City, Mo.
