MARBLE HILL -- Francis "Ike" Nightingale, 80, of Marble Hill, died Monday, Dec. 16, 1991, at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.
He was born Dec. 5, 1911, in Chicago, son of Samuel and Laveta Caswell Nightingale. He and Norma Killian were married Oct. 19, 1974.
Nightingale was a retired security guard with First Trust and Savings in Watseka, Ill. He moved to this area in 1988 from Kankakee, Ill.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge, Shriners, VFW, American Legion and Elks, all in Watseka. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was awarded three Bronze Stars.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Max Benfield of Marble Hill, Mike Benfield of Clifton, Ill.; a daughter, Charlotte Koenig of Marble Hill; 11 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son and grandchild.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Liley Funeral Chapel here. The Revs. Bobby Mouser and Randy Masters will officiate, with burial in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near here. Graveside service will be conducted by Marble Hill VFW Post 5900.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
