Frances Wubker

LEOPOLD, Mo. -- Frances Helena Wubker died at her home in Leopold at the age of 100 on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004.

She was born in St. Louis, Mo., to John and Frances Koester Seiler on March 3, 1904. On May 6, 1925, she married Henry Wubker. He died in August 1978.

She lived her entire married life in the house built by Henry's grandfather when he moved his family from Prussia, Germany, to Leopold in 1860. Frances was a homemaker, gardener and quilt maker. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Leopold and St. Ann's Ladies Sodality.

She is survived by one son, Elmer Wubker of Leopold; and seven daughters, Josephine Holweg and Adel Wubker of Leopold, Irene Beussink (Ernest), Alena Fels (Henry) and Barbara Seyer (Cornel) of Cape Girardeau, Hilda Berghoff (Leo) of Kelso, Mo., and Wilma Seabaugh (Norman) of Millersville. She has 34 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. One brother, Ben Seiler of Ste. Genevieve, Mo., and two sisters, Dricka Paul of Arnold, Mo., and Helen Wetstein of Carrollton, Ill., survive.

She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant son, Edward; four granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; four brothers; two sisters; and a son-in-law, Henry Holweg.

Visitation will be today at St. John Catholic Church in Leopold from 4 to 8 p.m. Parish prayers and rosary will be at 7 p.m. today. A Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. Bill Huggins officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Hutchings Funeral Chapel of Marble Hill is in charge of arrangements.
