Frances Lucille Horst's kind and generous heart struck its last beat Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2023. She passed at 92 at home in Jackson.

She was born April 6, 1931, in Goodland, Kansas, to William and Esther Taylor Rust. She and Roger Warren Horst were married July 16, 1950, at Goodland. He preceded her in death April 20, 2008.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.

Fran brought love, joy and beauty to all who were blessed to have known her. Above all, she loved to share her gifts with others. Throughout her life, Fran created exceptionally beautiful floral arrangements. She owned Blossom Shop, a flower shop, from 1965-71 and subsequently designed floral arrangements at various floral shops into her mid-80s.

She was a lifelong Lutheran and was devoted to St. Paul Lutheran Church. Not only did she serve as a greeter and voting member, she was an Altar Guild member, embellishing the church with her lovely creations.

Fran was also a talented seamstress, sewing alterations for Hecht's dress shop and making exquisite clothes for her children and grandchildren. Her artistry was boundless as she also created gorgeous works in stained glass, paint and mixed media.
