Frances Alberta Brockett, 99, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was born Sept. 10, 1924, near Advance, Missouri, to Ralph and Allie Richmond Painton. She and Charles Kenneth Brockett were married Oct. 12, 1946. He preceded her in death Nov. 25, 2015...

Frances Alberta Brockett, 99, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Sept. 10, 1924, near Advance, Missouri, to Ralph and Allie Richmond Painton.

She and Charles Kenneth Brockett were married Oct. 12, 1946. He preceded her in death Nov. 25, 2015.

Frances was a graduate of Oran (Missouri) High School and the University of Missouri-Columbia. She enjoyed a career as a public school teacher in Virginia for many years. After she and Kenneth retired, they returned to Southeast Missouri to be with family and friends.

In retirement, Frances stayed active with local charitable organizations. She and Kenneth enjoyed attending St. Louis Symphony and Opera Theater of St. Louis. They were enthusiastic Southeast Missouri State University supporters.

Loving survivors include her two daughters, Sue Brockett (Brian Rogers) and Ann Brockett (Robertus Richmond); grandchildren, Ben Lyon (Lindsay Hunter), Alex Lyon (Jennifer) and Briana Brockett-Richmond (Tom Caliendo); great-grandchildren Parker, Townes and Judith Lyon, Nina and Rita Lyon and Theodore Caliendo; and nieces Jane Painton, Lesa Gubbini and Gina Phillips.

Frances will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
