FLOYD P. LAYTON

PERRYVILLE -- Floyd P. "Cotton" Layton, 89, of Perryville, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 1994, at Perry County Nursing Home.

He was born Aug. 1, 1905, in Perry County, son of James Patrick and Annie Turlin Layton. He and Rose Ellen Vernon were married April 23, 1927. She died Oct. 3, 1989.

Layton was a retired shoe factory worker.

Survivors include a son, Eugene Layton of Perryville; three daughters, Geraldine Caldwell of DeSoto, Betty Laurentius and Peggy Hudson of Perryville; a sister, Leanette Zoellner of St. Louis; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, sister, granddaughter, great-grandson, and several stepbrothers and stepsisters.

Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home from 6:30-9:30 a.m. today.

Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Vincent's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Kevin Fausz officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
