Floyd Goodman

Floyd R. "Dick" Goodman, 82, of Jackson, formerly of McClure, Ill., passed away Saturday, March 22, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 18, 1925, in McClure to George Franklin and Ella Mae Staub Goodman. Floyd and Wanda Lee Littleton were married Oct. 7, 1952, in Piggott, Ark.

He was baptized into the Pentecostal belief Feb. 21, 1961, in Cape Girardeau.

After serving honorably in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1951, he worked for the John I. Hay Barge Lines, Mechling Barge Lines, Robbins Towing Co., Agri-Trans Corp., and was director of operations with Peavey Barge Lines until his retirement in August 1989. He then worked as project engineer with Alter Barge Lines in Florida, overseeing the building of three casino boats. During his retirement dinner, the company surprised him with the distinct honor of having a Peavey towboat named the Floyd Goodman.

Floyd enjoyed planting a large garden and playing with his dogs and granddogs.

Loving survivors include his wife of Jackson; a daughter, Patricia "Trish" (Keith) Quade of Cape Girardeau, and a son, Floyd R. "Rick" Goodman II of Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Danny Jones officiating. Interment will be in Lorimier Cemetery with full military honors provided by Missouri Honors Team.

Pallbearers will be Richie Phillips, Brad Wilson, Bob Kaufman, Denny Matlock, Richard Buchanan and Ronnie Mays.
