Floyd Fair

CAIRO, Ill. -- Floyd E. Fair, 84, of Cairo died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, at his home.

He was born Oct. 3, 1917, at Kennett, Mo., son of Alfus and Lydia Fair. He married Edith Fair, who died Dec. 27, 2000.

Fair was a retired pipefitter. He was a member of First Christian Church, Pipefitters Union Local 562 in St. Louis, United Organization of Pipefitters and Construction Workers, Royal and Select Masters, Knights Templar, KIM Shrine Club of Cairo and Ainad Shrine Temple of East St. Louis, Ill.

He was a York Rite Mason, Royal Arch Mason, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and past master of Cairo Masonic Lodge 237 AF&AM.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Brown of Cairo; two sons, John "Buddy" Fair of Kansas City, Mo., Ronald Fair of Mounds, Ill.; four sisters, Opal Lawson of Portageville, Mo., Jewell Black of Granite City, Ill., Louise Mayo of Ferguson, Mo., Mearl Blankenship of Arnold, Mo.; three brothers, Charles Fair of Marks, Miss., Gerald Fair of Wappapello, Mo., Vearl Fair of Festus, Mo.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo from 5-8 p.m. Sunday. Masonic rites will be conducted at 7 p.m. by Cairo Lodge 237.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Richard Pigg officiating. Burial will be in Spencer Heights Cemetery at Mounds.
