FLORENCE CHRISTIE

SIKESTON -- Florence E. Christie, 78, of Sikeston died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 1996, at her home.

She was born April 23, 1918, in Robertstown, Ark., daughter of John Oscar and Bertha Lee Johnson Newton. She and Leonard M. Christie were married Jan. 2, 1934, in Benton. He died July 25, 1987.

Christie was a dietitian's aide at Missouri Delta Medical Center more than 40 years. She was a member of North Acres General Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Ray Christie of Walnut Creek, Calif., Jim Christie of St. Louis; two brothers, Earl Newton of Arkadelphia, Ark., James Newton of Deer Island, Ore.; four sisters, Ila Elliott and Chris Taylor of St. Louis, Jewell Lovelady of Dover, Ark., Jean Kaiser of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren; and a great-stepgrandson.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and a grandson.

Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Jimmy Trotter officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
