Flora Irene Suedekum, 84, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Jan. 21, 1999, at the Lutheran Home.
She was born Sept. 29, 1914, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Otto and Alma Hemmann Goehring. She and Wilton Henry Suedekum were married April 12, 1936, in Cape Girardeau. He died Jan. 14, 1994.
Suedekum helped manage the family business of Suedekum Hardware for many years.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, member and held offices in Senior Ladies Aid, member of St. Francis Medical Center Auxiliary, had been active in Girl Scouts and served on the Otahki District Council.
Her suggestion was the one chosen to name the Lutheran Home. She was a charter member of the Lutheran Home Auxiliary.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathleen Ackman and Suzanne Vaughn of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Viola Richelmann of Cape Girardeau, Dorothy Willer of Jackson; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Church, with the Rev. David Hintz officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
