CHARLESTON -- Flora Ivy Scott, 76, of Charleston died Thursday, Sept. 4, 1997, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. She was born Aug. 30, 1921, in Clarksdale, Miss., daughter of Henry A. and Fannie M. North Nelson. She first married Elder Berry Ivy, who died in 1965. She then married Louis Scott, who died in 1993...

CHARLESTON -- Flora Ivy Scott, 76, of Charleston died Thursday, Sept. 4, 1997, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

She was born Aug. 30, 1921, in Clarksdale, Miss., daughter of Henry A. and Fannie M. North Nelson. She first married Elder Berry Ivy, who died in 1965. She then married Louis Scott, who died in 1993.

Scott moved to Missouri more than 70 years ago. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church of Deliverance in Charleston, served on the Mothers Board, and had been a Sunday School teacher. She was a member of International Dean of Religious Education, had been a state supervisor, and worked in the church more than 50 years.

Survivors include four sons, Percy and Ernest Ivy of Charleston, Ervin Ivy of Hopkins Park, Ill., John Ivy of Chicago; a daughter, Thelma Offord of Charleston; four brothers, R.C. Nelson and Frank Moy of East St. Louis, Ill., Thomas Moy of Cahokia, Ill., James Moy of Belleville, Ill.; two sisters, Lottie Williams of Oak Park, Ill., Ernestine Williams of St. Louis; 45 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Holy Trinity Church from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the church, with Bishop James Whitfield officiating. Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday in Mound City National Cemetery.

Sparks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
