JACKSON, Mo. -- Flora Marie Wendel, 82, of Whitewater, Mo., died Friday, July 6, 2001, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau. She was born Oct. 22, 1918, daughter of Henry and Mary Ulrich Wendel. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Gordonville, Mo. Wendel retired from Bell South Telephone Co. and was a member of Telephone Pioneers in Cape Girardeau. She served in the Women's Army Corps during World War II...

JACKSON, Mo. -- Flora Marie Wendel, 82, of Whitewater, Mo., died Friday, July 6, 2001, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Oct. 22, 1918, daughter of Henry and Mary Ulrich Wendel.

She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Gordonville, Mo. Wendel retired from Bell South Telephone Co. and was a member of Telephone Pioneers in Cape Girardeau. She served in the Women's Army Corps during World War II.

Survivors include a son, Dean Wendel of Gordonville; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Zion United Methodist Church. The Rev. Ann Mowery will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery.
