FLORA M. GROVES

EAST PRAIRIE -- Funeral service for Flora Mae Groves of East Prairie will be held at 2 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home here. The Revs. Burl Britt and Pete Morton will officiate, with burial in IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.

Groves, 88, died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 1994, at East Prairie Nursing Center.

She was born Aug. 3, 1906, in Blodgett, daughter of James B. and Ida Florence Ashcraft Duvall. She and Bennett E. Groves Sr. were married Sept. 20, 1924, at Bridges. He died May 10, 1983.

Groves was a member of Bridges United Methodist Church, and attended First General Baptist Church in East Prairie.

Survivors include two sons, Marshall Groves of East Prairie, Winfred Groves of Covina, Calif.; two daughters, Shirley Smith of La Puente, Calif., Nannie Harper of Johnston City, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, three brothers and two sisters.
