JACKSON -- Flora L. Fornkahl, 78, of Jackson died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Oct. 28, 1920, near Marble Hill, daughter of John "Burlen" and Maggie G. Ramsey Barks. She and Melvin Fornkahl were married Nov. 27, 1943, in Cape Girardeau. He died Aug. 6, 1974.
Fornkahl was a 1938 graduate of Lutesville High School.
She was a teacher at Hahn School near Scopus. She was a secretary at the former International Shoe Co. a number of years. She and her husband also owned and operated a farm in Bollinger County.
Fornkahl moved to Cape Girardeau in 1941 and to Jackson in 1983. She was a member of Hanover Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau, and its Ladies Aid.
Survivors include a brother, Lowell Barks of Burfordville; two sisters, Naomi McClard and Delores Golightly of Jackson.
She was preceded in death by three sisters.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. Jeff Sippy will officiate. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
