Fletcher Smith, 80, 1109 Walnut, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 1994, at Heartland Care and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Oct. 3, 1913, in Oriole, son of Silas and Maggie Doyle Smith. He and Marie Lincoln were married Feb. 17, 1940, in Cape Girardeau.
Smith had worked at Pipkin Boyd Neal Packing Co., Central Packing Co., and Marquette Cement Co. He also was a construction laborer 38 years with Local 282, retiring in 1972.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Ronnie, Jerry and Dennis Smith of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Linda Sanders of Jackson, Lavonda Thurman and Joyce McGee of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Elzina Sanders of Florida, Hazel Williams of St. Louis; 24 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, brother and three sisters.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. C.E. Fleshman officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
