PATTON -- Everett Long, 75, of Patton died Sunday, May 3, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Oct. 26, 1922, at Hornersville, son of William Joe and Ellen Roe Long. He and Glenda M. Haupt were married Sept. 16, 1950.
Long was owner of Patton Steel Co. more than 30 years. He attended Millersville Baptist Church, was a member of Patton Cemetery Board and Patton Volunteer Fire Department, and charter member of Patton Lions Club. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, June Long of Patton, Susie Birk of Burfordville; two sisters, Esther Polen of Millersville, Grace Yamnitz of Perryville; two brothers, Bernie Long of Archer, Fla., Ernest Long of Lincoln, Neb.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Patton after 4 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Daniel Hale officiating. Burial will be in Patton Cemetery.
