DEXTER -- Funeral service for Everett Edward Belvin of Dexter will be held at 11 a.m. today at Shelby Funeral Chapel in East Prairie. The Rev. Kenneth Biggs will officiate, with burial in Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie.
Belvin, 88, died Wednesday, July 16, 1997, at Dexter Memorial Hospital, following an extended illness.
He was born May 7, 1909, in Cape Girardeau, son of Arnold and Sarah Lucinda Moore Belvin. He and Thelma Agatha Goodman were married March 13, 1929. She died April 30, 1954.
Belvin was a retired farmer and had worked for Missouri Department of Transportation. He attended First General Baptist Church.
Survivors include six sons, Bennie Belvin of Columbia, Lee Belvin of Sikeston, Denis and Bruce Belvin of Dexter, Melvin Belvin of Matthews, Eugene Belvin of Independence; two daughters, Betty Metheny of Dexter, Nadine Ivie of Sikeston; 29 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a son and daughter.
