Evelyn Yandell

MOUNDS, Ill. -- Evelyn Yandell, 91, of Mounds died Thursday, April 28, 2005, at Daystar Care Center in Cairo, Ill.

She was born Oct. 3, 1913, in McCracken County, Ky., daughter of Albert and Ora Mae Rudd Simpson. She married Paul Yandell, who died in 1978.

Yandell received bachelor and master degrees from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, and was a charter member of Delta Kappa Gamma.

She was an English and Latin teacher many years in Meridian elementary and high schools. She was a member and organist many years at First United Methodist Church in Mounds.

Survivors include a cousin, Clyde Elrod of Kevil, Ky.

She was preceded in death by a brother.

Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home in Mounds from 11 a.m. today until time of service.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, with the Revs. Kelly Cox and Larry Miller officiating. Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens at Villa Ridge, Ill.
