Evelyn Ward

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Evelyn Louise Ward, 71, of Sikeston died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006, at Sikeston Convalescent Center.

She was born Oct. 14, 1934, at Bernie, Mo., daughter of Clarence Hubert and Nettie Lee Beggs Young. She and Troy L. Ward were married Aug. 31, 1962, at Morehouse, Mo. He died Dec. 23, 1986.

Ward worked at Drury Inn in Sikeston, and previously worked 23 years at International Shoe Co.

Survivors include two sons, Louie Ward of Cape Girardeau, Tracy Ward of Sikeston; a daughter, Rita Curtis of Sikeston; two brothers, James Young of Houston, Texas, Elmer Young of San Antonio, Texas; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Kelley Grubbs officiating. Burial will be in Hagy Cemetery at Dexter, Mo.
