CHARLESTON -- Evelyn Stapleton, 75, of Miami, Fla., died Saturday, Feb. 3, 1996, at Health South Rehabilitation Hospital in Miami.
She was born Aug. 27, 1920, at Blodgett, daughter of George W. and Goldie Bessie Rutledge Pearman.
Stapleton was an elementary teacher at Charleston a number of years, retiring in 1992. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Alvin Hills of Miami; a brother, Chester Pearman of Kennett; a sister, Maxine Graham of Charleston, and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother and sister.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Forest Hills Cemetery near Morley, with the Rev. Gerald Collier officiating.
McMikle Funeral Home at Charleston is in charge of arrangements.
