ZALMA -- Evelyn J. Slaughter, 62, of Zalma died Friday, May 26, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Nov. 23, 1937, in Bay County, Mich., daughter of Sherman and Kathleen Rogers. She and Alfred "Pete" Slaughter were married in 1956 in Greenville, Miss. He died April 30, 1998.
Slaughter was a member of Community Church of Christ in Lowndes.
Survivors include five sons, Pete and Toby Slaughter of Puxico, Timmy Slaughter of McGee, Steve Slaughter of Fairview Heights, Ill., Mike Slaughter of Zalma; a daughter, Jan Payne of Dudley; and her father of Lowndes.
Also surviving are four brothers, David Rogers of New Hamburg, Dean Rogers of Texas, Neil Rogers of Chaffee, Noah Rogers of Poplar Bluff; three sisters, Martha McCarthey of Bernie, Nancy Rogers of Dexter, Nellie Greenlee of Dexter; and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, two sisters, and a brother.
Friends may call at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Community Church of Christ. Jack Rogers and Dale Rogers will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
