Evelyn M. Ulrich Moore, 87, of Gordonville passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. She was born Dec. 7, 1925, in Whitewater, the oldest of six children born to Robert L. and Martina E. Peetz Fluegge. Evelyn M. Ulrich Moore, 87, of Gordonville passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Dec. 7, 1925, in Whitewater, the oldest of six children born to Robert L. and Martina E. Peetz Fluegge.

Evelyn attended school in Tilsit through grade five, and then attended St. Paul Lutheran School through grade eight. She was a 1943 graduate of Jackson High School.

She and Charles Ulrich were married May 12, 1945. They had three children, Larry, Darrell and Brenda. They were married only 13 years when Charles passed away Sept. 24, 1958, at the young age of 37.

Evelyn then met Gene Moore, who had lost his wife. They were married Oct. 16, 1959, and Gene brought to their union the four children from his first marriage, James, Judy, Gary and Mary. Evelyn and Gene were married almost 33 years when Gene passed away Oct. 13, 1992.

After high school, Evelyn worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. and the former International Shoe Co., both in Jackson. After her children were in school, she enjoyed a 28-year career as a cook with the Jackson School District. She loved working with the children and being part of their day.

As a child, Evelyn attended Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilsit. In 1939 she was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson. She was a longtime member of Christ Lutheran Church in Gordonville and the Ladies Aid.

Loving survivors include three children, Larry (Marilyn) Ulrich of Sacramento, Calif., Darrell (Connie) Ulrich of Jackson and Brenda (Rick) Margrabe of Gordonville; two stepchildren, Gary Moore of Cape Girardeau and Judy (the late Hobert) Riehn of Gordonville; three siblings, Orville (Loretta) Fluegge of Jackson, Milford (Judie) Fluegge of Millersville and Marjorie (the late Pat) Hoehne of Jackson; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a stepson-in-law, Harold (the late Mary) Kasten of Gordonville; a stepdaughter-in-law, Dixie (the late James) Moore of Jackson; and two sisters-in-law, Betty (the late Charles) Fluegge of Gordonville and Darlene (the late Byron) Fluegge of Jackson.

In addition to others mentioned, Evelyn was preceded in death by two grandchildren.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gary Hoffstetter officiating. Interment will be in Zion Methodist Cemetery in Gordonville.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Christ Lutheran Building Fund.
