Evelyn Sedonia Hopper, 87, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at the Lutheran Home following a short illness. She was born Feb. 18, 1914, in Cape County, Mo., daughter of Albert and Clara Birk Kipping. She and Oscar Hopper were married Feb. 8, 1932. He died Oct. 6, 1997...

Evelyn Sedonia Hopper, 87, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at the Lutheran Home following a short illness.

She was born Feb. 18, 1914, in Cape County, Mo., daughter of Albert and Clara Birk Kipping. She and Oscar Hopper were married Feb. 8, 1932. He died Oct. 6, 1997.

She lived in Cape Girardeau all of her life and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, having been confirmed there on March 24, 1929.

She worked for International Shoe Co. and Florsheim Shoe Co. for 33 years, retiring on April 2, 1976.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and a brother.

Survivors include three sons, Larry R. (Shirley) of Kissimmee, Fla., Ronnie D. (Jean) of Ballwin, Mo., and Donald J. (Carolyn) of Cape Girardeau; 10 grandchildren, Larry Jr. (Chris), Jeff, Melissa (Dave) Simmons of Florida, Doug (Bonnie), Dave (Patty) of St. Louis, Steve (Sarah) of Columbia, Mo., Sheila of Springfield, Mo., Tim (Brenda) of Fruitland, Mo., Chris of Cape Girardeau and Scott of Austin, Texas.

Eight great-grandchildren include Zachary Hopper, William Wysong and Marshall Simmons of Florida, Tonya, Kristina, Thomas, Daniel Hopper of St. Louis, Andrew Hopper of Columbia, Mo.; stepgreat-grandchildren, Neil (Kari) and daughter, Ava, Casie and Austin Urhahn of Cape Girardeau.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 20, from 4-8 p.m. at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral will be Wednesday, March 21, at 10 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. The Revs. Douglas Breite and David Dissen will officiate. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Living Hope of Trinity Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice.
