Evelyn M. Haertling, 87, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, at the Lutheran Home. She was born April 19, 1917, at New Wells, daughter of Otto and Flora Koenig Meyr. She and Melvin Haertling were married Oct. 10, 1940. He died July 26, 2001...

Evelyn M. Haertling, 87, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born April 19, 1917, at New Wells, daughter of Otto and Flora Koenig Meyr. She and Melvin Haertling were married Oct. 10, 1940. He died July 26, 2001.

Haertling worked many years in Cape Girardeau School District cafeterias. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. She was active in Trinity Ladies Aid, Trinity Guild, Southeast Missouri Hospital Auxiliary and Lutheran Home Auxiliary.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau from 11 a.m. Sunday until time of service.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Douglas Breite officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
