Evelyn Coats, 90, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born Dec. 19, 1917, at Hornersville, Mo., daughter of Jesse and Mary Kennett Rose. She and Jesse O. Coats were married Dec. 7, 1941, in Jackson. He died Nov. 21, 2001.

Coats was an elementary teacher with Scott City School District. She was a member of Missouri State Teachers Association, Eastern Star and Ladies Auxiliary to BLE.

Survivors include a son, Michael Coats of New Bloomfield, Mo.; a daughter, Rebecca Huck of Jackson; a brother, Joe Rose of Kennett, Mo.; a sister, Sue McCoy of St. Louis; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five brothers.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Robert McCoy officiating.
