Evelyn R. Byrd, 84, of Jackson passed away Thursday, May 12, 2011, at Monticello House, where she had lived the past six years. She was born Aug. 11, 1926, in Jackson, to Arlus J. and Mabel L. Talley Seabaugh. She was a 1944 graduate of Jackson High School. She and Johnny Byrd were married Aug. 21, 1944, at First Baptist Church in Jackson. He passed away Feb. 20, 2000...

Evelyn R. Byrd, 84, of Jackson passed away Thursday, May 12, 2011, at Monticello House, where she had lived the past six years.

She was born Aug. 11, 1926, in Jackson, to Arlus J. and Mabel L. Talley Seabaugh. She was a 1944 graduate of Jackson High School. She and Johnny Byrd were married Aug. 21, 1944, at First Baptist Church in Jackson. He passed away Feb. 20, 2000.

Evelyn and John owned and operated the former Maple Lane Dairy in Oak Ridge. She enjoyed caring for her family and was a member of Oak Ridge Homemakers Club. She and John were members of the United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge, and Evelyn served many years as church treasurer.

She worked at the former International Shoe Factory and the former Leonard's Seed, both in Jackson.

Loving survivors include a son, Michael (Margit) Byrd of Jackson; two grandsons, Terry (Jennifer) Byrd and children Kodi, Jake and Brittany, all of Jackson, Michael (Stephenie) Byrd of St. Louis; two sisters, Edith (the late Cecil) Unger and Jo Ann (Milton) Kasten, all of Jackson; and a sister-in-law, Janice (the late Jim) Byrd of Alabama.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to time of service Saturday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Rodger Rice officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge.
