Evelyn Maria Braun, daughter of the late Lawrence and Amelia Etter Mirgaux, was born Jan. 16, 1926, in Illmo and departed her life Sunday, Sept. 17, 1923, at her daughter's home in Scott City at the age of 97 years.
On Feb. 9, 1946, she married Louis Braun at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City. He preceded her in death May 9, 2022.
Evelyn is survived by two daughters, Anita (Jim) Uelsmann of Benton, Missouri, and Alice Braun of Scott City; two sons, Michael (Rhonda) Braun and John (Donna) Braun, both of Scott City; brother-in-law, John (Lynell) Braun; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Manton and Billie Mirgaux; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews, whom she loved as her own.
Apart from her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Fred and Lonnie Mirgaux; four sisters, Mary Mirgaux, Josephine Mirgaux-Petitt, Alvina Sandvos and Alma Sandvos; son-in-law, Larry Dumey; and grandson, Darryl Dumey.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 22, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City.
Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 22, at the church, with the Rev. Tom Wilk officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
