Evan Arthur Varvell, 60, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 6, 1962, in Honolulu, to David and Mildred Carrel Varvell.

Evan earned two associate in science degrees in computer and electronics technology from Bay Valley Tech in Santa Clara, California.

He owned and managed a vending machine business in the Sacramento, California, area for a number of years. For 10 years, he served as a stage manager and lighting director for bands performing in northern California.

In recent years, Evan's favorite thing to do was studying the Bible. He also enjoyed woodworking and made outdoor furniture.

Survivors include his mother, Mildred Varvell of Cape Girardeau; sister, Judy (Charles) Wiles of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, David (Janice) Varvell of Union City, California, and Keith (Elizabeth) Varvell of Providence Village, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 25, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral will begin at noon Saturday, Feb. 25, with the Rev. Mark Graham officiating. Interment will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to American Legion Auxiliary Unit 63 or Cape First Church.
