Eva Lou Gregg Smothers, 77, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 12, 1938, in Parma, Missouri, to Edgar Hoyt and Mary Armstrong Gregg. She and John Vernon Smothers were married Saturday, Feb. 24, 1980, at Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death Dec. 10, 2008.
Eva was a 1956 graduate of Gideon High School in Gideon, Missouri. She was a member of Maple United Methodist Church. Eva was very loving and gave a lot of her time helping others.
Survivors include a son, Rick (Paula) Smith of Cape Girardeau; sisters Pauline (Sonny) Allen of Campbell, Missouri, and Ruby (Art) Dillon of Dade City, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Smothers; three brothers; and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bryan Schaefer officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Maple United Methodist Church.
