GRANITE CITY, Ill. -- Eva M. Barrow, 98, of Granite City passed away Thursday, March 22, 2018, at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.
Eva was born Jan.14, 1920, in Rector, Arkansas, the daughter of the late John Henry and Pearl May Smith.
Eva worked for International Shoe and was a very active member of Bethesda Baptist Church in Granite City.
Eva was a well-known gospel singer, who performed many concerts throughout the area. In her free time she enjoyed her days of going to church, singing and spending time with her family. She will be remembered for her kind heart and all the special times she shared with family and friends.
Eva is survived by and will be missed by her sister, Lawanda Alley of Michigan City, Indiana, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many other close family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Eva was preceded in death by her first husband, Bill Middleton; her second husband, Barney Barrow; sisters, Estella Norman, Gladys Gowan, Cleetis Bardsley and Moneeta Parks; brothers, George, Dwight and Marvin Smith; half brother, Herbert Smith; and half sister, Myrtle Bucy.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Irwin Funeral Home, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City.
In celebration of her life, a service will be at noon Monday at the funeral home, with Pastor David Denton officiating. Burial will follow at Valhalla Cemetery in Belleville, Illinois.
