Eugene Wilson

Eugene H. Wilson, 78, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2005, at his home.

He was born July 18, 1927, at Millersville, son of the late Charlie and Minnie Brotherton Wilson. He was raised near Millersville by Robert and Tressie Wilson. He and Betty Jean Morton were married Aug. 29, 1945, in Perryville, Mo.

Eugene was a 1945 graduate of Jackson High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946.

Eugene worked at the former Jackson Hosiery Mill and Morton-Hall Lumber Co. in Jackson. He became a draftsman and estimator for Kenneth Seabaugh Construction/Jackson Excavating Co. and for Kiefner Brothers in Perryville, retiring from Penzel Construction in Jackson in 1992.

For many years Eugene was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Jackson, becoming an ordained deacon in 1965. He was a former member of the church's building and maintenance committee.

He was a member of Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158 in Jackson, former secretary of Jackson Elks Lodge 2652, and former member of Jackson Planning and Zoning Committee.

Loving survivors include his wife of 60 years; a son, Larry Wilson of Jackson; a daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Michael Browne of Jackson; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4 to 8 p.m. today, and Sunday from 1 p.m. until service time. An Elks service will be held tonight at 7.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with Dr. Grant Gillard officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery with graveside military honors.
