Eugene Edward Werner, 83, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, May 9, 2010, at the Lutheran Home.
He was born Dec. 9, 1926, in Cape Girardeau, to Richard and Alma Best Werner. He and Mary Esther Herbst were married March 22, 1947.
Eugene was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. He was employed for 26 years as a transport driver and he taught for seven years at Cape Girardeau Vocational-Technical School. He also owned and managed a body shop.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; three daughters, Susan (Bill) Dillon of Sikeston, Mo., Nancy (Wes) Morris of Gordonville, Linda (Bill) Border of Fairbury, Ill.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time today at Trinity Lutheran Church.
The funeral will be at noon today at the church, with the Rev. Douglas Breite officiating. Interment will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Saxony Lutheran High School or Trinity Lutheran Church.
