Eugene Swinford, 72, of Scott City died Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Nov. 7, 1930, at Bell City, Mo., son of Luther and Gertrude Bass Swinford. He and Sharon Livingston were married Jan. 1, 1981, in Scott City.

Swinford retired as a machinist at Braswell.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Robert and Mike Rhymer and Johnny Adams, all of Scott City; three daughters, Gina Byars of Symsonia, Ky., Tina Gerlach of Cape Girardeau, Rhonda Raines of Scott City; two brothers, Lester "Red" Swinford of Advance, Mo., Billy Swinford of Las Vegas, Nev.; a sister, Lillian "Sis" Kaempfer of Cape Girardeau; and 12 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Charles Marshall officiating. Burial will be in Williams Cemetery at Perkins, Mo.
