LEOPOLD, Mo. -- Eugene Stoverink, 61, of Leopold died Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Nov. 3, 1947, in Leopold, son of Lawrence H. and Magdalen Hinkebein Stoverink. He and Linda Nenninger were married Oct. 28, 1972, at the St. John's Catholic Church in Leopold.
He worked as a carpenter, served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and a 3rd degree member of the St. Isidore Council 5898 of the Knights of Columbus at Leopold.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; one son, Rodney (Sharon) Stoverink of Belton, Mo.; one daughter, Amanda Stoverink of Leopold; his mother, Magdalen Stoverink of Leopold; five brothers, Tony Stoverink and Edgar Stoverink, both of Leopold, Steve Stoverink of Malden, Mo., and Alan Stoverink and Terry Stoverink, both of Marble Hill, Mo.; five sisters, Geraldine Bohnsack of Whitewater, Kathy Chapman of Benton, Ark., Dorothy VanGennip of Marble Hill, Susie Lukefahr of Leopold and Patsy Birk of Gordonville; and two grandchildren, Bethany and Joseph Stoverink.
Preceding him in death were his father, Lawrence Stoverink, and a brother, Arnold Stoverink.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill. Parish prayers and Knights of Columbus rosary will be at 7 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Catholic Church in Leopold, with the Rev. John Harth officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery with full military rights provided by the Missouri Honors Team and VFW Post 5900.
